Explorer Scouts are young people, usually aged between 14 and 18 years old.
They make up the fourth Section of the Scouting family.

This branch of Scouting is meant to be adaptable for the young person. In past years Scouting found young people leaving at this age in order to continue progressing with their exams and other intrests.

However Explorers is different to any other form of Scouts, where the young person doesnt have to be there every week, and doesnt neccesserily be attached to an Explorer Scout Unit, as they can progress as been a young Leader within a group Environment, There also are many types of Explorer Scout Units, some may be linked to your local Scout Group, and others may be based around different activities.

Not all Units meet each week, because you will often be out and about at weekends or in the holidays doing activities. There will be times when you will be busy doing other things such as exams, and being an Explorer Scout will have to fit around these.

As an Explorer Scout, you will get the chance to work with other Explorer Scouts in your District, not just your Unit. By doing this, you will get the chance to do many more activities, not just the ones your Unit organises.

Also you will have the oppertunity to help run and organsie activities, as well as do your own. We are proud of our Explorers in Bradford North, as they help and support the local groups and campsites, as well as achieving their own goals.
